Prayer Request

Herschell Galbreath, Billie Brown, Earline Garner, Betty Sweat and many more that are sick in body. Please remember Thelma Silverio whose brother-in-law past away over the week end.
Let's remember each other during this New Year Season. God bless each of you.

Is Christmas really over?

Scripture: Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband's will, but born of God. John 1:12-13
Today is the second Sunday after Christmas. It has been hardly more than a week since we were celebrating, opening gifts, and eating a huge Christmas dinner. What is left of the Christmas celebration? A trash bag full of used wrapping paper and empty boxes. The Christmas tree and all the decorations have been taken down and stored in the attic for another year. Christmas is over and our lives have returned to normal. It is back to work for the adults and back to school for the children. Yes, Christmas is over -- at least for another year.
Wait! Is it really over? Is that all there is to Christmas? Is it just a time for parties, giving gifts to friends and family, and a brief period of "Peace on earth, good will toward men?" Surely there is more to it than that.
Our Bible readings today reveal the true meaning of Christmas. The Bible says that, "The Word became flesh and came to live among us." The "Word" that the Bible is talking about is Jesus. He came, full of unfailing love, and we have seen his glory. We have seen the glory of God's only begotten Son.
What did you get for Christmas? No doubt you received some toys and clothes, but the most important gift any of us received was Jesus who came to earth as a gift from God. To those who receive him and believe in his name, he gave the right to become the children of God.
Jesus came to the world, but many did not recognize him. For those who do not know the Savior, Christmas is over. But for those of us who received the gift of the Father, Christmas goes on all year long.
Heavenly Father, we thank you for your love and for the gift of your Son, for it is through that gift that we also become your children. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.

Note from the General Overseer of the Churches of God of Prophecy

FROM THE GENERAL OVERSEER

Season of Seeking Coming Soon

On the first 21 days of 2010 the Church of God of Prophecy will mobilize thousands to a time of fasting and prayer. This will be the fourth year that the call has gone out for the Church of God of Prophecy world wide to begin the year seeking God for His guidance, blessings, and power to do His will in this world.

Pastors, Leaders, Bishops, and Lay People we invite you to join in this Season of Seeking God on the first 21 days of January. There are many blessings that come through fasting and the Bible even mentions a few blessings that only come through seeking God in a fast. I am sure we all agree that our world needs the people of God to rise up and call on His name fervently. We will not be alone in this time of prayer and fasting. Many groups throughout many nations are declaring a time of fasting for the first days of this new year. You will not want to miss participating with others inside the Church of God of Prophecy as well as thousands beyond our ministry family as we seek God for great and mighty things this coming year.

"Call unto me and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things that you do not know." Jeremiah 33:3

An Excitement & Joyous Week-end

The week-end started off with the purchase of a 24.0 cu ft French door refrigerator with freezer and ice maker at the bottom, a stainless steel 5 burner gas stove and a stainless steel microwave oven. Thanks to Michelle Snow for getting such a BIG discount. God bless you.

Sunday was an awesome day in the Lord. Sunday night was our "Sing Unto the Lord". The night was filled with Christmas carols sung by everyone. At one time or other, everyone was on the stage singing. Some of the highlights were: Jimmy Hodges singing with his wife Ligaya, "Away in a Manger", the Men's Choir "O Little Town of Bethlehem, the Ladies Choir "Silent Night", Sandy Cagle singing "I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas, Jami Reno "O Holy Night", and my favorite song "Little Drummer Boy", sung by David Hodges, Patti Parsley and backup Rita and Cindy. BUT, I believe the biggest highlight was when the Finance Committee sung "O Come All Ye Faithful",(the look on their faces, I wished I had had my camera). Then we all went downstairs for the December birthdays. What a night we had in the Lord.

We welcome Sandy and Clarence Cagle membership io our church at Tarrant. They will be a blessing to us as God uses them for His glory.

Prayer Strengthens You

ISAIAH 40:31 But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength...

Somehow, in the act of prayer we receive a transfusion of God's strength.

LUKE 22:46 "pray, lest you enter into temptation."

Being strong enables you to not enter into temptation. Time spent in prayer strengthens you spiritually. (Temptation strikes us all. But we decide whether to yield to the temptation, or not.)

JUDE 1:20 But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit,

According to Jude, praying builds you up, or edifies you. Prayer is a spiritual exercise; the more you do it the stronger you get spiritually.

Let’s enter each day with prayer and throughout the day breathe a prayer and close the night with prayer. Begin to talk to God and listen for His response, through His Word.God is not so particular about how His children visit with Him. Just do it!

Say this with me: I choose to spend time with God each day in prayer and receive God's strength and help.
